Charlie White has been a professional artist for over 40 years.
Painting:
Her work is diverse and sophisticated and expresses a peaceful, meditative quality — whether it is Asian- or western-influenced. This diversity is sparked by the predominating commission work she does for her patrons and clients. Previously known for her gouache-technique watercolor, then oil pastel, then acrylic, her work in recent years successfully combines the variety of disciplines into mixed media — usually involving all or most of charcoal, acrylic, oil, collage, and metal-leaf on canvas or paper.
Her years of lettering experience strongly influences her compositions and design. Commissions are her favorite way of working because it allows her an opportunity to get to know her clients. Communicating and interpreting their vision of what will work for their particular needs is a welcome challenge with exciting results for both artist and client.
White’s painting is increasingly more interpretive than representationally rendered — though she does either well. In any case, she feels the imagery comes not from her, but through her as a conduit of Consciousness.
Color and Garden Design:
Over the years, White’s artistry has evolved into commercial and residential interior and exterior color and design consultations, as well as garden design and hands-on landscaping. She especially enjoys the creative depth and breadth of garden design.
